Downloading digital tachograph driver’s card

Contrary to some popular opinions, the download of digital driver’s card is mandatory for at least every 28 days.

Regulation 124/2005 of the Ministry of Economy, paragraph 6, 4-5. of downloading  digital tachograph cards states clearly:

"(4) The operator must ensure that at the request of the inspection authorities he is able to present material documenting the activities of drivers for at least past 365 days as follows:

a) in case of analogue tachograph record sheets

b) in the case of digital tachograph data recorded by the digital tachograph in electronic form.

(5) In order to fulfill point b) in section (4), the operator must download

a) data from the driver’s card at least once in every 28 days

b) data from the tachograph in vehicles operated at least in every quarter year

c) keep the data received from repair workshop in case of vehicles under reparation and

d) must keep safe forat least 12 month all downloaded data on any electronic media (CD-ROM or DVD-ROM) and must handle it over to any authority for inspection.”
